Ed Weinstein Principal, Weinstein A|U, Architects + Urban Designers
Edward Weinstein is an award-winning architect with a practice 30-years strong in the Puget Sound region. What he enjoys most is the opportunity to design and solve complicated problems collaboratively. A principal and founder of Weinstein A|U Architects + Urban Designers, Mr. Weinstein leads a talented design team on a wide range of project types. He has successfully assisted a wide variety of clients in solving complex problems, arriving at unique design solutions that meet the specific needs of each client.
Mr. Weinstein is widely recognized for his leadership and innovation. For example, on the New Holly Redevelopment Project, Ed’s design vision triggered a highly successful transformation of a troubled public housing project into a national model of a desirable mixed-income neighborhood. His work on the City of Seattle West Police Precinct/911 Communications Center illustrates his ability to deliver award-winning design to a challenging program on a limited budget.
His private sector work ranges from corporate office buildings to master planned communities and single family homes. The firm is currently working on 10 urban, mixed-use projects and a number of residential communities in the Pacific Northwest. Ed’s residential work is imbued with modern design principles broadly applied to create refreshing, purposeful places.
Current public sector and institutional clients, and non-profit agencies he’s working with include the Low Income Housing Institute, the King County Boys and Girls Clubs, GSA/9th Circuit Court of Appeals, the City of Seattle and Whitman College.
He is also recognized as a leader in the community. Ed is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and actively involved with the University of Washington School of Architecture. He served as a member and Chair of the Seattle Design Commission, member of the Harvard University Graduate School of Design Alumni Council and as a design juror on numerous AIA design awards juries across the country. Ed has won 40 Seattle AIA, Northwest and Pacific Region, National AIA and other organization design awards.
