Mercedes leads her own design studio and brings 22 years of experience in a wide range of commercial and residential arenas to the Abito team. She takes pride in being true to the architecture and the elements by stripping the design concept down to its core before she begins. Her ideas come from many sources. “Traveling will always be an integral part of my life and profession. Experiencing the lives of other cultures, textures, patterns, colors and traditions will always inspire me,” she says. It’s the catalyst for designs that communicate with conviction and sincerity.

She often joins forces with award winning architectural firms in the Northwest, such as NBBJ, Mithun Architects and Weinstein A|U. Her breadth of work is expansive, from designing finishes for multi-family projects to high-end residential interior design in Seattle, San Francisco and Bend. Her strengths in interior architecture and interior design fuel her ability to create interiors that tell a compelling story. Mercedes believes that “design should be timeless, endless, without dates – an outgrowth of how one lives, grieves and nurtures.” She enjoys taking projects all the way through the process, from master planning and conceptual design to interior finishes to furniture specification, purchasing and installation.
